Student Organizations
www.sao.cornell.edu/soCornell University supports more than 700 student organizations that cover a wide variety of interests. If you cannot find exactly what you seek, you are welcome to create your own organization. Registered groups may qualify for funding and free web space.
Student organizations cover many religious, professional, and other groups not otherwise represented in the Ithaca area. The organizations generally fit into the following categories (examples in parentheses):
- Professional/Departmental (Cornell Education Society, Engineering Student Council, Student Chapter of American Veterinary Medical Association)
- Activist/Justice (Asian Pacific Americans for Action, Participatory Action Research Network, Society for Natural Resource Conservation)
- Religious (Baha'i Club, Muslim Educational and Cultural Awareness, Protestant Cooperative Ministry)
- Recreation/Hobbies (Ballroom Dance Club, Billiards Club, Heartwood Morris Dancers, Just About Music)
- Race/Ethnicity (Bi-/Multiracial Lineages, Ethnicities & Nationalities Discussion (BLEND), Council of American Indian Graduate & Professional Students, Bhakti: Society for Hindu Cultural Awareness)
- International/Country of Origin (Hong Kong Students Association, Venezuelan Students and Scholars Association)
- Gender/Sexuality (Men at Cornell, Out in the World, Women's Planning Forum)
